FAQs

Got questions?

Do I have to be creative to come to Glass House?

No.  While we are all creators to some degree, even if we’ve just been amazing at creating chaos, each person’s creative abilities come to life in many different ways.  Building a new life in recovery, navigating challenges in a new ways, finding a new sense of identity – these are creative acts as well.  While our speciality is treating musicians, entrepreneurs, writers, artists, and performers due to our team’s background in those areas, our programs are available and applicable for clients from all walks of life and shades of humanity.

Which program is right for me?

During our pre-intake and intake assessments our team will discuss where you are at, what your needs are, and make a clinical recommendation about which program best fits your needs.  You can learn more about our different programs here.

How soon can I get started?

We will do a pre-assessment to make sure our programs match what you are looking for, and if so, schedule intake right away.  Our goal is to start you in a program as soon as possible. You can learn more about our admissions process here.

Do you take insurance? If so, what kind?

We work with both most private commercial insurance policies as well as Maryland Medicaid.  You can learn more about insurance and other payment considerations here.

Where is your center?

Glass House is located in historic Ellicott City, in Howard County, Maryland.  We are centrally located between Baltimore and Washington D.C., and a short drive from Baltimore City, Towson, Columbia, Laurel, and Pikesville.

Do I have to attend in person?

While we encourage clients to attend both intake assessments and outpatient groups in person if feasible, we have integrated telehealth capabilities into almost every area of our center.  Admissions, private sessions, IOP groups, and OP groups can all be attended virtually in order to make sure that treatment can happen no matter your distance from the center or the demands of your schedule.  Many IOP clients split their attendance between in-person and virtual sessions, and some clients participate entirely remotely.  In addition, we have technology to allow toxicology (drug screenings) to also happen remotely.  During the intake process and planning with your primary therapists, you will discuss virtual and in-person attendance as part of the schedule you create together.

Do you do private therapy?

Yes.  Call or text us at 410-970-4842, or send us a note through our contact page.

Do you have in-patient residential treatment?

No, we do not currently have a fully in-patient residential treatment program.  We have many partners that we can refer you to, if you need assistance locating a program that is right for your needs.  If finding an inpatient program is the right next step for you, we are happy to help you find the right place.

Do you have sober living or halfway houses?

Glass House does not have its own sober living or halfway houses; however, we have community partners in Columbia, Catonsville, and Ellicott City, as well as Baltimore, that have safe, structured recovery housing.  If you are relocating back into the Howard County area and are looking for recovery housing as well as outpatient treatment, contact us and we can likely be of assistance.

Do you take clients on Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

We are able to treat clients who are currently on some types of Medicated Assisted Treatment and are transitioning.  Each client’s medical needs are unique, and are more thoroughly assessed during the stages of the admissions process.

Do you have a detox?

No, we do not have a detox.  If you are in need of a medical detox and do not know where to find one, you can reach out to our team and we can refer you to numerous providers in the area.

I’ve been in recovery for a long time, but still need help.  Can you help?

Depending on what’s going on in your life, we may be able to offer the support you need. If you are struggling and need additional therapeutic support to face life’s challenges, maintain abstinence, rebuild your identify, address trauma, or move forward in a new direction, please reach out.  Recovery is a journey, not a destination. Whether participation in group therapy is the recommended approach, or individual sessions are the right way forward, we have many options that might work for you.

I don’t know if I’m ready.  What should I do?

You can hit us up even if you aren’t sure if you are ready, and we can talk about it.

Ready looks and feels different for different people.  Some people start treatment sure that they will never pick up another drink or drug again.  Other people are sure that’s not possible, but want the pain and consequences and continued self-destruction to stop.  Most people are somewhere in the middle.

Consider this: If you are reading the entire Frequently Asked Questions page of an outpatient addiction center in hopes of learning something that makes the next step forward any more clear, you have your answer.  You are probably here because you need help.  Maybe Glass House can help, maybe somewhere else is more your speed.  If you want help from anywhere, whether its us or the fanciest rehab in California, reach out to someone.

There’s a cliche thrown out in pop culture a lot: “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”  As corny as that is, it’s true.  The drugs aren’t getting any safer.  Anyone caught in the grips of addiction or alcoholism is living on borrowed time.
