FAQ
Fast answers to the questions we get most. No fluff—just facts.
What kind of treatment do you offer?
We provide outpatient treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. That includes Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP) levels of care. Our approach combines group therapy, individual therapy, trauma work, and creative process. It’s immersive, challenging, and designed to create real change—not just symptom management.
Who is this program for?
Glass House is for people who are ready to stop performing and start doing the work. We serve adults struggling with addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, and identity collapse. Many of our clients are high-functioning, creative, and exhausted. If you’re tired of short-term fixes and looking for something real, you’re probably in the right place.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept most commercial insurance plans. We’ll verify your benefits and work with your provider to make sure you’re covered. Our admissions team will walk you through the financial side of things clearly and directly—no surprises, no fine print.
What makes Glass House different?
Most places teach you how to act better. We help you figure out why you keep blowing your life up in the first place. This isn’t a scripted curriculum or a motivational circle. It’s real therapy, real structure, and a process built to pull the roots—not just trim the damage. We don’t treat you like a diagnosis. We treat you like someone worth getting back.
Is this a 12-step program?
We’re 12-step informed, but not 12-step required. Some of our clients find incredible value in the steps; others prefer different paths. We support each person in building a recovery framework that’s grounded, sustainable, and self-directed.
Can I bring my emotional support possum?
If it’s chill and doesn’t interrupt process group, we’ll talk. But just know—if it starts projecting, it’s getting clinical feedback like everyone else.
Do you offer detox?
We don’t provide medical detox onsite. However, we work closely with trusted detox facilities and can help coordinate a safe transition into our program once stabilization is complete.
Do I have to be creative to come here?
No, but it helps if you’re at least a little weird. We’re not grading your poetry. We just want you to stop ghosting your own life.
Where are you located?
We’re based in Ellicott City, Maryland—easily accessible from Baltimore, DC, and surrounding areas. The space is designed to feel welcoming, creative, and unlike any clinic you’ve ever walked into.
Can I just do the program without all the “feelings” stuff?
That’s adorable. No.
What’s your problem with Jonathan Taylor Thomas?
It’s not a problem. It’s a wound. Some of us grew up knowing we’d never be the kid on the Tiger Beat cover. While JTT was out here getting sitcom applause breaks and fan mail, we were just trying to survive middle school with a weird haircut and emotional damage. We’re fine now. Mostly.
How long is the program?
That depends on your needs and level of care. Some people start with PHP and step down gradually through IOP and OP over several weeks or months. Others engage at a lower level from the start. We don’t force timelines—your progress sets the pace.
Can I keep working or going to school while in treatment?
Yes, especially in our IOP and OP levels. We’ll help you find a rhythm that allows for recovery work while still managing responsibilities outside of the program. Flexibility is important—but honesty and consistency are non-negotiable.
Do you treat people with mental health diagnoses but no substance use?
While we are licensed to treat primary mental health conditions, a large part of our curriculum is centered on the mechanisms of addiction—how it forms, how it functions, and how it gets unraveled. If substance use has never been part of your experience, there’s a chance this may not be the right clinical fit. That said, many of our clients arrive with layered mental health challenges where addiction is just one thread in a much larger story. If you’re unsure, reach out—we’ll help you figure it out, honestly. No hard sell. Just clarity.
What’s a typical day like?
Depending on your level of care, you might attend programming 3 to 6 days a week. Each day includes process groups, psychoeducation, experiential therapy, and time for individual sessions. It’s not about sitting in a room nodding along—it’s interactive, creative, and structured to keep you engaged and challenged.
Will I ever truly be able to get better?
You’re on our website, reading the last question of a very long FAQ. Hopeless people don’t do that. Something in you still wants change—even if it’s buried under exhaustion, fear, or doubt. That’s not weakness. That’s the beginning. And we know what to do with it.
